It can be difficult to feel like you’re enjoying any aspect of your life when you’re unsure what success or satisfaction means to you in the first place. This is where a self-reflection practice comes in. While meditation as a way to connect with oneself and observe what you truly want gains popularity, mindfulness takes a close second in importance. Mindfulness is the art of being aware of one’s own thoughts, emotions, and feelings while being 100% self-responsible for all, including actions.

As the centre of your universe in our quantum world, your consciousness is the primary director of how your life plays out. What you can’t control outside of you provides you with an opportunity to respond instead of reacting in a way that feels good and supports connection in your relations. No matter what various roles you play in your life, there are basic components that make up your day-to-day: self-care, responsibilities, and enjoyment. Yes, it can be as simple as that. What you do in each of these areas will dictate how your day plays out and how you feel about it, yourself, others, and your environment.

If no, how can I make my own values starting now?
If yes, how can I continue to support these values daily?
Since there isn’t anyone in particular that you need to please or live by their standards as an adult, creating and living by your own standards and values is key to prospering in Freedom. In short, Freedom is the dissolution of thoughts, beliefs, emotions, and behaviours that are victimising to yourself and others. It’s when you can act in your own accord and do as thou wilt without worry or fear of repercussions.
Perhaps observing what you value takes time and self-awareness as you reflect upon the past, yet. It’s worth it. When you create your own values - not from a religion or spiritual practice - that is, what you See yourself doing naturally, you develop a deeper connection to your Self and nature. Values also put an oomph behind what you do and give you purpose. They support you in all aspects of your life and are closely intertwined with benefiting a healthy lifestyle.

When you look at what you value on a deeper level, you provide yourself with the opportunity to positively affect your physiological state, emotional intelligence, mental health, and spiritual growth. When maintained through loving self-compassion, you ensure your relationship to Self and others continues to flourish. The new science of epigenetics could discover in the near future that what you value is inherited but not immutable. So let’s take a look at what this could mean for you:
How do your values affect your body? When your values are unconscious, it can have a profoundly negative effect because the choices that you make will not be based on anything you’re aware of. Simply by bringing what you value to your conscious awareness, you can shift this to a more positive, sustainable existence. Valuing the continuation of your life or even transhumanism and Immortality can instantly transform the way you behave. By choosing life over its absence, you’ll make choices that are healthier for you. A regular mindful practice of valuing your physical being will easily transform detrimental habits into regenerative ones. Try out a few variations of speaking kindness to your body along with the benefits of eating natural food and daily exercise. Then observe how it affects you.

How do your emotions and the awareness of your emotions affect your values? In the growing field of Emotional Intelligence (EQ), many psychologists, neuroscientists, and the like are researching what emotions are, where they come from, and how they vary from person to person. Conclusively, everyone experiences emotions in different ways and in varying degrees. Learning about your emotions and what causes you to react (instead of responding calmly) can point you towards unconscious values that you might have picked up in utero or your mother picked up in utero (!!!). It’s possible to take a moment to breathe before reacting and bring your emotional thoughts to your awareness by asking yourself, “When did I first learn this pattern” and listening. Each time you do this sort of “shadow work” by becoming aware of your emotional state, you improve the overall quality of your life and allow yourself to redefine what you value or deepen your current values.

Who do I love being around that feels good and is healthy for me to be with?

How do your values affect your mental health? What you believe and what you focus on create the direction of your life and dictate your actions. The underlying motivations of these beliefs and actions change as you experience life. Those around you can also influence your decisions consciously and unconsciously. Even what you see in passing - such as billboards, commercials, or paid advertisements on social media - affects you without knowing it. So what can you do about it? Learn to discern between what you like and don’t like while actively choosing your next steps. Furthermore, cultivating a deeper relationship with yourself and becoming aware of hierarchies in your workplace, spiritual practice, and relationships will help you integrate a healthier perspective. In short, moving towards egalitarian thinking will greatly improve your outlook.

How do your values affect your spiritual growth? Spiritual growth, in this instance, is defined as connecting to your Self on a deeper level. This allows you to connect with others and nature as a mirror to that level if you so desire. Being synonymous with personal growth, creating values within through meditation and mindfulness expands your enjoyment of every-day life. Simply put, values are words that you develop a relationship with. In essence, you create your connection and it blossoms over time. In the same way, you create relationships to people, places, and things by developing a connection within (metaphysically) and your consciousness affects your perception, then your environment. If you want to create a change, you have to communicate it to yourself and continue to do so. Then, take a break from it and allow it to shift. If it’s a positive change, it will occur simply as that.

With these new insights in hand and awakened in your heart, now is the perfect time to set your New Moon intentions to manifest over the lunation.
